Forum Sessions

  • Keynote Speeches (60 min including Q&A):
    Delivered by notable figures, such as Nobel laureates or prominent researchers.
    Topics include: Science communication, women in Science, career development, DEI, etc.

  • Contributed/Invited Talks (15-20 min including Q&A): 
    Scholars present a brief, high-level overview of their research in an accessible language for the general public, emphasising clarity and engagement. Kurdish contributions are prioritized. Some of the submissions may ultimately be selected to be presented as posters, at the discretion of the scientific committee.

  •  Industry/Career Perspectives (15-20 min including Q&A):
    Senior professionals share their experiences, success stories and perspectives aligning with the forum’s key objectives.

  •  Science Slam (15 min including Q&A):
    Present science in an entertaining and creative way, incorporating humor,
    music, or performance to make science memorable.

  • Panel Discussions (Tentative topics):
    Tentative topics are: Kurdish science communication, women in science, career development,
    empowering the next generation of Kurdish researchers, etc.

  • Workshops and Tutorials (120 min including Q&A):
    Tentative topics are: Mobile journalism, science communication, AI tools for researchers,
    proposal writing, AI for Kurdish language and technologies.

  • Academic Kurdish Networks (5 min speed talks):
    Rapid 5-min presentations from academic NGOs of Kurdistan and diaspora.

  • Social Campaigns (Tentative):
    Social campaigns are aimed to involve a broader audience beyond the in-person
    attendees and beyond the research community, Submission details will be announced soon. Tentative topics include:
    A) Best abstract award (Target: researchers, Target audience: researchers). Researchers send their thesis abstract in Kurdish with a one-paragraph summary for a public audience. Selected texts will be published on the website and the proceedings.
    B) Research video/podcast competition (Target: researchers, Target audience: public). Researchers make a video about their research in an accessible language to the public. Best videos are awarded and published on our social media channels.
    C) Art competition (Target: artists, Target audience: public). Artists/researchers send a photograph illustration, graphic design with a sentence description.  The best image (pre-selected by juries) is chosen based on public voting.
    D) Video competition (Target: public, target audience: public).In a video, artists/scientists answer one of the following questions: a) Why does science communication in Kurdish matter? b) Why is the representation of women and minorities in science important?
